(HealthNewsDigest.com) - Actress Lori Loughlin may be best-known for her roles on the hit TV shows “Full House,” and the new “90210,” but her most important role is taking care of her family. As a mother, the health of her three preteen and teenage children is Lori’s number one priority, which is why she had them vaccinated against meningococcal disease including meningitis.

THE doting mother of a young meningitis victim is to run the London Marathon in a bid to help fight the devastating illness

2007, 2008 and 2009 WALKS

We had our first walk in April of 2007.  We managed to plan and coordinate the first walk in just a few months, thanks to the help and encouragement of our close friends and family.  We were thrilled at the turnout that first year...we had over 300 people, and raised over $17,000.  The majority of these funds were donated to the National Meningitis Association and the Meningitis Angels.

The second year was just as successful as the first, even though the weather was a bit chilly and windy.  Again, we enlisted the help of many friends and family.  We raised over $18,000, and were again proud to donate the majority of these funds to the National Meningitis Association and to Meningitis Angels.

Our third walk was held on April 25, 2009 and the weather cooperated fully, with sunshine and warm "summerlike" temperatures.  Again, with the help of many friends and family, it was a great success.  We estimate that we had about 150 walkers, and we raised in excess of $15,000, the majority of which were again donated to the National Meningitis Association and Meningitis Angels to help them continue their important work.

We added some new events to our walk, including musical entertainment provided by Davis Concert Staging, Inc.; free massages provided by Rizzieri Salon; a hockey "shoot out" provided by Steve and Matthew Richardson; and a gift basket raffle.
